If you went down to the woods in lockdown, you may have come across a wonderful surprise…
A few weeks into lockdown a group of fabulous Oxfordshire wedding suppliers got together on WhatsApp to discuss the possibility of a socially distanced photo shoot. We figured out the logistics of how it could work; only one model who could do her own hair and make up, and an ASOS dress so we didn’t need to worry about it being cleaned. Suppliers turning up at different times to set up the table and their products so we could all stay a safe distance apart. It worked really well and we are thrilled to be able to share with you the pictures. Theres been a lot of DREAM TEAM comments thrown around and it really was a case of team work makes the dream work!
The wonderful Karin (resident wedding manager at Stratton Court Barn) is a gem, a total gem – and she got us altogether to pull this off! I always tell my Stratton Court brides how lucky they are to have someone like Karin on their special day. She is a perfectionist and no detail will go unnoticed! This woman can change a room from ceremony to wedding breakfast in no time at all – a wedding magician! On this shoot day she was exceptional – especially when the heavens opened and we all got soaked doing our jobs! I was under a huge tree creating a no foam floral garland at this point in time! I wish I’d been in my wellies not my Converse’s!
We started off with a colour scheme that Karin chose of earthy jewel tones, which worked beautifully under the canopy of the woodland we were in. This was such a gorgeous colour scheme to work on, really rich and stylish. I chose a gorgeous floral palette of hydrangeas, peonies, flowering mint, alliums, astrantia and the most beautiful scabious nestled amongst eucalyptus and asparagus ferns. So many different textures and tones.
The photos, THE PHOTOS – are absolutely stunning and were captured by mtstudio Wedding Photography, Monika and Maciek caught the light implicitly. I adore these images – they are so natural and detailed and I am thrilled to share them with you. I hadn’t worked with this pair before but I really hope to again – and have just recommended them to a bride, who is also a very dear friend of mine.
Things we need to really focus on:
THE CAKE – oh my word – Charlene from Cherry Tree Cakerie excelled herself (again!) if you are looking for a statement cake, with texture and detail like no other then she is your go to lady! The detail on this cake was made with wafer paper, all hand crafted and the watercolour icing just looked amazing. Charlene also made some co-ordinating cookies – these were beautiful – perhaps the perfect idea for a favour / place name.
I LOVE stationery – nothing pleases me more than a new notebook, or a pack of beautiful cards to send to friends – I love pretty post! Anna from Anna Jayne Designs created the most stunning watercolour suite for this photoshoot – with rich colours and thick bands to hold everything together it looked so striking. Anna is renowned for her floral work so it was great to see another style which looked so stylish. I loved the ripped edge effect too!
ALL THE PRETTY LIGHTS – Richard from Something Borrowed, hung the most gorgeous festoon lights and as the daylight faded in the wood they really came into their own above the wedding breakfast table they looked dreamy – you could have been on a terrace in Tuscany if you shut your eyes! They also do a brilliant job of lining the path to this secluded woodland set up. Richard also provided the ceremony arch which we dressed with co-ordinating flowers, the perfect way to create a dramatic scene for those special vows. Richard also provided the Ester and Erik candles – which I adore, they come at a price but in the most amazing range of colours and their burn time is so much better than your standard candles, they also come in four different heights and are super slender and glamorous. Richard co-ordinated the table from Applewood Event Hire and tableware from Top Table Hire.
ALISA – our gorgeous model, had to do her own hair and make up, because of social distancing and wore a dress from ASOS – we couldn’t risk a boutique dress in the current situation as it would have meant a fitting etc which wouldn’t have been possible. The ASOS dress was a Premium pleat maxi, with diamanté trim in ivory, for those of you who have fallen in love with it!
The DREAM TEAM … please go and check them out and give them some love!
