Today we have a super pretty wedding for you to feast your eyes on! Full of pastel perfection, our stunning bride Leanne, her lovely husband Joseph married last October, on a gorgeous autumn day. It is my pleasure to hand over to the both of them.
Questions answered by both Leanne & Joseph.
How long have you been together?
Me and Joseph have been together just over 5 Years now and have a beautiful little boy together, Theodore.
How did you meet?
We met through friends, at first I didn’t like Joseph but that soon changed.
When & how did you get engaged?
Joseph proposed to me on my 21st Birthday at a Zoo, in front of all our friends. I was in absolute shock and I didn’t know what to say, probably felt like a lifetime to Joseph who was still knelt on his knee in front of everyone.
Which date did you chose for your wedding day?
We went and looked at Stratton Court barn at the end of September 2018 and liked the idea of an Autumn wedding, but still wanted nice weather so picked 4th October 2019.
Where did you hold your ceremony & reception?
We got married at Stratton Court Barn and had our reception there too, as soon as we arrived at the barn we knew we wanted to get married there, its stunning and elegant, everything we wanted.
Who was involved in planning your wedding?
Me and Joseph did a lot of the wedding planning, with the help of my mum and Karin the wedding co-ordinator.
Did you both have Hen/Stag Do’s?
Leanne – I had my hen do in Manchester which my Maid of Honour and best friends organised. Two fun filled days, filled with laughter and a lot of alcohol at a cocktail master class and dinner.
Joseph – I went to Blackpool which he arranged with the help of his best man pub crawls, Blackpool Pleasure beach and lots of food and alcohol.
How many people did you invite to share your special day?
We had approximately in 60 guests in the day and then more in the evening for the evening do.
Who were your Bridesmaids?
I had 4 bridesmaid and 1 flower girl, my Maid of Honour was my best friend Iris and then my two sisters in-law Lucy & Sophie and then my best friend Lucy. The flower girl was my little Cousin Ella.
Who were your Best Men & Ushers?
I had 2 best men my Brother Ollie and best friend Josh, then my brothers in law Stuart, Nathan, Adam and James made up the rest of the Grooms party.
What did the Bride wear?
I wore a beautiful Maggie Sottero fit and flare dress, with buttons all the way down my back and a stunning belt to go with the gorgeous detail all over my dress. I also wore a long veil with simple yet beautiful hair pins.
What did the Groom wear?
I wore a lovely Navy suit with a tweed waistcoat and cream tie, myself and all the groomsmen’s wore the same, even the little ones just without the jackets. They were hired from Youngs in Debenhams.
What did the Mother of the Bride wear?
My Mum wore a Beautiful dusky pink jacket, with a floral dress underneath, with matching accessories. She looked lovely on the day.
What theme/colour scheme did you chose?
We wanted a very subtle colour scheme and ended with a mauve colour, we had seen beautiful flowers from other weddings with the same kind of colour scheme and we didn’t want overpower the beauty of the venue with bold colours.
How did you feel on the morning of your wedding?
Leanne – I was very calm and excited. I was with all the Bridesmaids, my mum and Joseph’s mum getting ready at the venue and had such a lovely morning.
Joseph – I was a bag of nerves but excited at the same time, I couldn’t stand still waiting for Leanne to walk down the aisle.
What did you choose to eat?
We had picked a lovely menu from NG Catering, for starter we had Tomato, Chorizo and basil soup with a selection of breads on the side – Beautiful!
Main we had chicken with sundried tomatoes, in a lovely sauce served with dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal veg. For dessert we had the choice of sticky toffee pudding or profiteroles with cream or custard, and a hog roast in the evening.
Who made speeches?
We had a Master of Ceremony who was one of Joseph’s Groomsmen Stuart, who introduced. My dad, Joseph, Iris my maid of Honour and Josh the Best Man made speeches, a few tears and lots of laughter, couldn’t of asked for better speeches or people that did them. Still laugh when we talk about them and the stories.
Which song did you choose for your ‘First Dance’?
We wanted to pick something different, something that wasn’t used often at a wedding, so we choose Miley Cyrus ‘When I look at you’. I wouldn’t have picked anything else now, it gives me goose bumps when I hear it and takes me back to just me and Joseph on the dance floor.
What was your favourite part of the day?
We couldn’t pick, we loved the whole day from the moment we started getting ready, to the ‘I do’s’, to everyone coming together in the evening dancing and having a good time.
What was your one Wedding Day ‘Must Have’?
I would say having a photographer would be my must have. Having someone there capturing the memories for you and taking photos of the things you didn’t see on the day, we love looking back at the photos and seeing our friends and family enjoying themselves, these photos will stay with us for life.
Would you change anything or do you have any advice for currently engaged couples?
I wouldn’t change a thing and my advice for couples is don’t stress, enjoy the experience of planning your wedding, enjoy the build up and counting down the days. The day goes by so quick so remember to take 5 minutes out of your day to look at it all with your new wife/Husband.
Would you like to mention any particular wedding suppliers who assisted with your day?
Obviously the wonderful Emma and team from Signature Flowers, the flowers were more than I had ever dreamed. The wonderful Karin and team at Stratton Court Barn who made the day so stress free. The amazing Kimberly from KJA Photography and Danny from Affordable weddings for capturing the day.
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We haven’t decided on a honeymoon destination as of yet, we’re still looking.
Such gorgeous photos from KJA Photography! I really loved this colour scheme.
Have a great week!
