Today as we hopefully approach the end of Lockdown, I felt I wanted to share some fun! This fab wedding took place last summer on a crazy busy weekend, in peak wedding season. A time when none of us would’ve imagined the way things currently are, but it warms my heart to remember and hope that before long, we will be all be back sharing in the love of new wedding celebrations. This is one that I remember for all the right reasons – so much love, happiness and a truly fabulous couple. I thoroughly enjoyed assisting them on their special day and I even got to make a photobooth!
I won’t share any photos of me after a bottle of two of prosecco, later in the evening though, as that wouldn’t be professional! Boys it was a privilege to be part of your big day – we love you from your Signature ladies!
Today it is my pleasure to hand over to Tim & Dave.
How long have you been together?
3 years, 4 months.
How did you meet?
Long story! We met online and was a definite ‘love at first sight’.
When & how did you get engaged?
February 18th 2018. It was at the Oakley House Hotel. I took Dave away for the weekend for Valentine’s as a surprise. I proposed to him in the hotel grounds next to a massive tree, all lit up at night. I hid the ring in a tube of Jelly Tots, with a message ‘I love you lots like Jelly Tots, and more…’
Which date did you chose for your wedding day?
20th July 2019.
Where did you hold your ceremony & reception?
Bicester Hotel Golf & Spa.
Who was involved in planning your wedding?
We both were involved in planning the day. With a little help from a certain florist!
Did you both have Stag Do’s?
We had our stag do together. A weekend in London.
How many people did you invite to share your special day?
Who walked you down the aisle?
Both of our mums
Who were your Best Man/Men & Usher?
James Nixon, Tim’s best friend, was our Best Man. No Ushers!
What did you both wear?
We wore matching chequered blue waistcoats, white shirts and we each wore blue and orange ties.
What theme/colour scheme did you chose?
We spent ages going through Pinterest to choose our theme and colour. We ended up with blue, orange and white as our colour scheme.
The theme wasn’t so much a theme! We went with lanterns covering the ceilings in our colour scheme, wooden table decorations with succulents as centrepieces, and the most amazing photo booth created by Emma.
How did you feel on the morning of your wedding?
Excited! It was so lovely to spend the morning at the venue so we both felt relaxed. Everything was set up the night before so no stress.
Who made speeches?
We weren’t planning on speeches but Tim and James did say a few words. I was still writing it the night before! They were short, heartfelt and a bit of humour thrown in.
Which song did you choose for your ‘First Dance’?
We didn’t have a first dance. Although we chose to do our own disco, so all of our favourite songs were playing all day.
What was your favourite part of the day?
So many! Saying ‘I do’, spending the day with all our loved ones, seeing our mums faces as we walked down the aisle with them.. and more!
What was your one Wedding Day ‘Must Have’?
Comfy shoes. You’re on your feet all day. So we made sure we wore good casual shoes that didn’t cut your ankles lol.
Tell us about your DIY wedding jobs!
The whole wedding was DIY. We designed our invites, table menus and table plan. We dressed the whole room the night before. The DJ was us too.
Would you change anything or do you have any advice for currently engaged couples?
We didn’t stop all day, so perhaps make sure you take time out; it goes so quickly. We had a friend take photos rather than a photographer so if anyone decides to do the same, try and plan the photos you want. The day won’t happen again.
Tell us about the party!
Very relaxed and laid back which suited us. Bit of dancing, bit of drinking! The brave few lasted till the small hours.
Would you like to mention any particular wedding suppliers who assisted with your day?
Obviously Emma, she was amazing. Her ideas and execution were spot on. Emily who made our cake; delicious and looked stunning. And the cocktail making class was fab, organised by the hotel.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this love story as much as I did. Please stay home, stay safe and I look forward to a time when I can welcome you back into our Bicester Shop. In the meantime, we are available for flower deliveries, please visit our online shop or call us to discuss any requirements.
