Today I am truly delighted to be able share Lindsey and Rich’s wedding day at The Dairy, Waddesdon. We work regularly with this prestigious wedding venue and yet every occasion is always so personal and different. Lindsey and Rich’s day was no exception. Classic and elegant, their choices were stunning, romantic and very sparkly!
It is my pleasure to hand over to Lindsey and her beautiful wedding day.
How did you meet?
We have been together 3 years this Tuesday (9th July 2019), we met through friends 7 years ago and became really great friends almost instantly, 4 years later feelings changed after a few life events and we became a couple.
Where did you decide to get married?
We had always talked about the venue Waddesdon Manor, and how I’d fallen in love with it years and years ago back when I was a teen, and we used to go regularly. On the 21st May 2017 we went up to the manor for a spot of lunch and Rich proposed on the steps by the fountain in the flower garden and took me by complete surprise arranging a photographer to capture the moment. It was quite spectacular. It was only natural that we booked The Dairy at Waddesdon Manor for our ceremony and reception. There was no other options in our eyes.
Which wedding dress did you choose?
My dress was by Vera Wang and I customised it with extra “sparkles” which I would say was my “wedding must have”. I added sparkle to my hair, my flowers, my table decor, I even had a glittery cake.
Are there any other things you would recommend?
The only other thing I think is a must have, is extra lipstick to hand as you spend all day giving people kisses, etc…
What inspired your colour scheme/theme?
Our theme was blush and navy, something we both loved from the off. My bridesmaids wore stunning dresses from David’s Bridal in the colour ballet.
As massive Fomula 1 fans, we named our tables after circuits around the world (our first date was at the British Grand Prix).
What was your favourite part of the day?
My favourite part of the day has got to be as I walked down the aisle seeing Rich’s face. He burst into tears but looked as handsome as I’d ever seen.
Who did you choose to be in your Wedding Party?
My bridal party consisted of my Matron of Honour Sam, and my best friends Sophie, Louise, Bee and Beth as Bridesmaids. I had 2 little Page Boys Josh and Zach and then my Mum, Rich’s Mum (both called Jayne/Jane) and my surrogate mum Lindsey. On the guy’s side, we had my dad Doug, Rich’s step dad Martin and then 6 Groomsmen; Josh, Drew, Lee, Max, Dave, and Best Man Alex.
Did you have any surprises for each other on your Wedding day?
On the morning of our wedding we exchanged some gifts to each other. I made up a basket of things I thought he might need such as special cuff links, his favourite aftershave, whiskey etc, and I had been in contact with our favourite F1 team and managed to get a special surprise from our favourite driver.
For me, Rich had printed various photos of us together at pinnacle moments of our relationship, friendship included, and he had written the memories on the back of the photos each leading to a specific present with the final one being a trip to the Italian Grand Prix the following weekend. It was the most amazing gift.
Would you change anything from your wedding day?
If I would change anything I think it would have been to wait as long as possible to give out invitations and do so carefully, a lot can happen in the time you dispense them and the big day.
I would of loved to have other people share our day with us, however we didn’t have the chairs to sit them.
Which flowers did you choose to compliment your day?
When it came to our flowers, we wanted to make sure we both had our favourites in there, calla lily for Rich and gerbera for me. We both loved having greenery too, as we feel it fitted the venue nicely.
When I received my bouquet on the day I just felt relieved that they had arrived! It smelt beautiful and the ribbons complimented the colour theme perfect. It was gorgeous.
Do you have any other wedding suppliers you would like to mention?
I have to say the lady who did our cake, Karen Thomas (Cakes by Kit), did the most incredible job of our cake. We basically gave her an idea of what we would like, and she designed and made it perfectly to complete the image we had. We didn’t see it until the day and we were blown away, it tasted heavenly too!
Wishing you a fabulous week!
